I am now convinced...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I'll admit; when I first found out Ron Paul was running for the Republican
nomination, I thought little of it.
I did some research, found a lot to like about him and began backing his
campaign. Did I think it could
really happen? No way! I believed George Stephanopoulos when he said Dr.
Paul had no chance.
I thought he had a sure bet when he said he would wager everything he had
right to Ron's face that he could never win the nomination.

I plowed ahead any way. I wanted to at least be a part of what I saw as a strange phenomenon that
I had not seen in Americans for at least 10 years. Some of them really seemed to care what was
happening. They were energized and enthusiastic about someone that could save them from
enslavement by the Federal government. I wanted to be in on that! If nothing else, I wanted
all of us to send a message to Washington: Some of us do care what you do and we will no
longer stand aside while you run our lives!

So I started this blog. I began to follow Digg and Reddit and the GOP sites and many others. I
found Lew Rockwell and could not believe what he was saying. I educated myself on the IRS,
Irwin Schiff, the Federal Reserve and many of the other things Dr. Paul feels so strongly about.
I began to feel the same way, but I still thought there was no chance we could pull it off. I hate
the Patriot Act, the IRS, the banking system, the New World Order, all of it! I even created a
slideshow with some pics of the Ron Paul support and posted it on Youtube and Google.....

Then came the September 5, 2007 Republican debate. Fox tried to mess with Ron; he was
having no part of it. They hated what he said, the audience LOVED what he said and Fox
STILL tried to downplay his success. The idiots insisting on "Paulbots" spamming the
text message poll when it was not possible to vote more than once, again! Same as the
last debate...

But my friends, I am becoming convinced that it CAN happen and IS happening right now
in America!! The numbers don't lie to us; the media might but the people are not kidding
themselves any more. They are beginning to speak via text polls, online polls and feet on
the ground at straw polls. The people are on the ground; you can see it. Go to Youtube;
go to Google video; they are recording themselves showing their support. The Memphis
Revolution video is awesome by itself! No other candidate can even come close to having
the support Dr. Paul has from people getting off their butts and spending their time and
their MONEY to do these things!! It is becoming a real revolution in our time but we are
able to do it without firing a shot.... I would wager with George that all of the Republican
candidates COMBINED cannot compare to Ron's support ON THE GROUND!!

So what is the next goal. In my mind it is media coverage. True, any press is good press
and if the talking heads want to complain about the "Paulbots" skewing their polls, that is
fine; at least it gets Ron's name into the mainstream. They are helping us and don't even
know it. But yes, the movement is being suppressed in the mainstream.
The GOP Straw poll even went as far as to ban Ron Paul and threaten to keep the ban
on as long as they continued to receive complaints!! We don't need them and we cannot be
held hostage by their poll. As one Digg poster said (and I wish it was me, but it wasn't
because it is genius)"...Their poll is the ONLY one we can BE SURE was rigged so far..."
and that is true.

Now on to the next goal (after that rant). I feel like our best chance to influence the MSM
at this point is through a mass assault of communications. E-mail, snail mail, phone calls
whatever your preferred method. Any and all work well, but e-mail is the easiest to send
(and easiest to ignore, I guess..) I suggest this: I will create a form letter requesting
a more balanced approach to the Presidential campaign which will benefit all involved.
Republican, Democrat and Independent. We will insist that equal coverage is the
responsibility of the media and that the process and therefore the country benefit
overall. It will not be scathing nor specific to a candidate.

This blog contains media contact information links that are formatted just for e-mail use
and bulk mailing (at least one is). Please review the letter and post comments suggesting
changes, either minor or wholesale; we will come to consensus and move forward with
the communication campaign.

See Ron Paul Business Honor Roll for the letter (since I have received only one response
for it; please send me info about your businesses that back Dr. Paul!!!! dave4Rpaul)
Give me until 9-9 to post the letter.

Call for all business owners that support Ron Paul for President.

I have created a blog to list all of the great patriotic businesses that are supporting
Ron Paul's campaign for the Whitehouse in 2008. Let me know if you know of any
that have donated time, money or even space to display campaign materials
signs, etc.

Drop me a line at dave4rpaul@gmail.com

(Almost hate to give out an e-mail address, but...)

And I will get them on the list. Include name. address, phone and any website
information you may have for them. I think this can be a good way to solicit
more businesses and exposure for the campaign.

You can also use this as an incentive, as I am, when soliciting windows or
counter space for campaign materials.

The honor roll is here: Ron Paul Business Honor Roll

Let them know they are on it and to tell their friends!

Very cheap way to get the word out for Ron Paul.. In print, even!

I found a website that is virtually giving away a custom rubber stamp. I'm not plugging them; I knew nothing about them until today...

Follow this link:
Iprint cheap stamp

There you can order a custom made rubber stamp guaranteed to print 1000 times with a single inking
for just the shipping cost of $3.79!! I had mine done in two lines:

Who is Ron Paul?
www.ronpaul2008.com

What a deal!! And what can I do with it? Stamp outgoing mail, stamp money (is that legal?),
stamp stickers (if I can't print them; I bet the local Dollar store has 100 for a dollar), stamp my
dog, whatever!! I can get his name on all kind of stuff!!

I thought I had seen something similar on the web before. Something about a group that was
reimbursing a $6 fee from another site if you ordered a Ron Paul stamper. But this is better!
You can pay for it yourself and it is cheaper.....

One other free thing; this group will send you a free Ron Paul bumper sticker: Bumper Sitcker
I have mine and i will be sending Jeff and his group a donation.I also found a site claiming that
calling 1-800-RON-PAUL will also get you a free bumper sticker but I have not tried that one yet.

If you have a business in Providence, Rhode Island, this guy on Craig's list says he will bring you
a Ron Paul poster and set it up for you. Business Poster

One other idea I had was to solicit local businesses for permission to display campaign material
in their building. In exchange, I will create a business honor roll blog that links to mine showing
their information and linking to their websites.

Does any one else have any other ideas? Let me know and I will blog them here..

Does Ron Paul "saturation" on the Internet hurt his campaign?

I have been following this phenomenon for about 3 months now.
And I have become a real believer in Dr. Paul. I think his ideas and honesty
resonate with the American public and are a breath of fresh air in an otherwise
stale Washington climate.

But I have begun to wonder if his Internet presence has not become a hindrance
to the overall campaign. Others are trying to catch up; Barak Obama is beginning
to catch up quite a bit and there have been some recent incidences on some of the social
networking sites that show others are trying to emulate the success Dr. Paul has seen.

Rudybots on Digg

Back to the point; there has been outrage (not too strong a word in my opinion) on
some social networking sites such as Digg and Reddit over the number of posts pertaining to Ron Paul.
There is even a group of "friends" on Digg that has specifically organized to bury Ron Paul posts...
I blogged this before and had some interesting discussion both on my blog and on Digg about the issue.

Digg Paul Haters

So do I think we have reached or breached the tipping point for the medium? Sometimes I do so let me
explain further.

Ron Paul dominates Youtube, Technorati searches, Digg (for posts anyway), and other sites like this.
I think this is good to a point, but I am afraid the message is beginning to choke some of the potential
recipients. There are examples of more than 10 posts (probably more than that some days) in a single
day from a single blog on Digg (no names here). Many times I am seeing links to the same story
CONTENT but not the same URL about Ron Paul; granted, this happens with other stories, too.

Is there a solution? Is there really a problem? Personally, I think it IS becoming a problem.
Since the Ron Paul campaign has no control over this effort due to its grassroots origin, they
cannot do anything about it directly. They COULD ask the supporters to "back off" if they feel it
is becoming too much, but that is about all they could do.

I think the "Paulers" as a group should start being a little more selective about what they publish
on their blogs, what they post to networking sites and be conscious of the duplication of CONTENT
that is showing up on the Internet. Be creative, but be original and research the links you are
posting around the 'Net. I know there have been some outrageous things happening to the campaign
regarding the MSM and the GOP. By all means, get that info out!!

There are few supporters who want to spread the word more than I do, but I don't think a continuous
bombardment of content (mostly rehashed) is being effective. Fresh ideas and unique ways to
promote the cause will work much better... Remember the Chinese water torture? Who isn't
get tired of the Nutrisystem ads? Or local injury claim lawyers? To the point of turning off
your TV?? Sometimes I capitulate and just ask "If I buy it will you take the damn commercials
off the TV!!!" I don't think that will work for Dr. Paul's campaign; we need to spread the word
creatively. Share your enthusiasm for Freedom and Liberty!!

P.S. I am sure this is going to get flamed as an anti-Paul, "keeping us down" post as my other
attempts at reality have in the past. I assure you it is not that; I believe in the cause
and want to do all I can to make it successful. Even if that means a little constructive
criticism at times; even if it is aimed at me....

Ron Paul wave rising..

My first try at such a thing using KDEnliven in Linux...

Turned out OK, I think although I could use some high quality content.

Speaking of content; if I stole any from anyone, please let me know...
